Desk Calendars

Better late than never...happy New Year, everyone. I want to make sure I post this before January is over. It has been a very busy 2017 for me so far. I'd been sick and it seems like recovery has been frustratingly slow. I still manage to find time to create, just not enough time to sit down and post.

This is my second year creating these desk calendars and sending them off to friends and family. I must say even I am impressed with how beautiful they turn out...and so easy to make. Which one is your favorite? Also, check out last year's version here. 

I purchase the mini calendars from Skybluepink.com I usually order mine from them around August or September because these calendars do sell out. I will list below the products I used to create these calendars that are still current and orderable. Some items I used have already been retired like the River Rock card stocks and ribbon, Timeless Portrait DSP, Memorable Moments stamp set (for the year), 1" Square Punch and the Black Glimmer Paper. I am sure you can find substitutes for these products.

Mini Drawers & Cupboards

Thank goodness it's Friday, indeed! I've had such a busy week and I already predict May to be an even busier month. Anyway, I want to share a couple of mini drawers/cupboards that I was working on. They were quite time consuming to put together. I first adhered all the wood pieces together using wood glue. Let them dry, then painted with white acrylic gesso, let them dry, then painted them with acrylic paint. After they dried overnight, I measured and cut-up the designer papers, sponged around the edges using Soft Suede ink pad and glued them using Mod Podge. Lastly, I put Mod Podge all over to give them a sheen finish. Didn't I say time consuming? Yep, but I am very happy with the results. I think it was worth it.

This mini drawer is from SACrafters. I bought them when I went to the Scrapbook Expo last month. I checked out her online store, but she charges so much for shipping. I guess I'll just have to wait to go to another Scrapbook Expo, right?

I still don't know what I'm going to use this one with. Perhaps makeup or spools or ribbons. Who knows if I'll even use them. I might just display and admire them. Smile. 

I think this one will be perfect to put my OPI nail polish collection. I just love creating anything with paper! This DSP has been retired. I thought the gingham would be perfect for a county look.

Summer Solstice

Just a short post to share with you the Shadow Box Frame and card I made for a friend who's moving to Washington. She will be greatly missed. Hopefully, I might lose some lbs. now that she won't be around to bring me lunch and feed me. Smile.

My family is going through a really challenging time at the moment and I'd really appreciate all your good thoughts and well wishes. There are so many things I want to write, but I can't find the words to describe them. Has that ever happened to you? Big Shot

It has been pretty cold and gloomy here in Northern California, perfect excuse to stay in my pajamas all weekend long. I have been busy playing with my Sizzix Big Shot Cutting Machine. I just LOVE the Bigz XL Die in Designer Rosette (125594) and the Large Sizzlits Die in Paper Doily (125592) - both are in the Occasions Mini Catalog which will end April 30, 2012. I really hope they carry over these two items to the new catalog that will launch in June.

I just love how this shadow box frame turned out. (Although taking a photo of it was quite tricky). This will be an awesome Mother's Day or friendship gift, don't you think? I am bummed that the Everyday Enchantment DSP and Brad pack will go away end of this month.

I also have been busy making this beautiful broach/pin using the Flirtatious Designer Fabric and Antique Brads and of course the Bigz L Die in Fun Flowers (121812).
